What's good

The first taste of Vinya.

A Sri Lankan garden kitchen serving wood-fired pizza, hand-chopped kottu, and our small-batch traditional lamprais — also spelled lumprais or lump rice, the Dutch Burgher classic of spiced rice, meat curry and cutlets steamed in a smoked banana leaf.

Our lamprais isn't shouted with chilli — the spices and curry leaves are doing the work, and they deserve to. We bake our own bread, source produce locally, and cook in small batches so every plate leaves the kitchen the way it should.

It's healthy food made with conscience — gentle enough for elderly guests, pregnant women, and the kid who came in tired. Quality ingredients first, no MSG, no shortcuts.

Tandoori Chicken Pizza

Yoghurt-marinated chicken, melting mozzarella, rings of red onion, a handful of curry leaf basil. The crust takes the smoke from the wood-fire and gives it back.

The Garden after dark

When the bulbs come on,
the garden changes.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner — all day, every day, from 9 in the morning until 11 at night. After six the bulbs go on and the wood-fire fires up. Tables move out by the plunge pool. The kitchen never closes between sittings.

Our story

The legend of Vinya.

Vinya Garden is named after a legendary purple-rumped sunbird that lives in the karapincha canopy here on Kirulapona Avenue. The story goes: if you see her, you're lucky. She comes back every evening when the bulbs come on.

For over five years, this garden was an open secret — a private dining room for guests of Seconds Colombo, the boutique hotel next door, and a quiet meeting place for the Seconds community. You needed a key to get in.

In 2026 we opened the gates. Colombo deserves a place like this — a real garden under real bulbs, with food cooked slowly in small batches, a plunge pool out the back, and a sunbird who shows up if she likes you. Walk-ins welcome. The 138 stops at the door.

Vinya Garden is open to everyone — no hotel stay required. Walk-ins are welcome from 9 am to 11 pm daily. Come for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a drink in the garden.
The Pool Dining Package is LKR 5,999 per person. It includes a 3-course chef's special, a signature drink, 3 hours of plunge pool access, and a towel. Two slots: Sunshine Day Out (9 am – 5 pm) or Candlelight Dinner (5 pm – 11 pm). Book in advance via WhatsApp at +94 77 878 5871.
Every Wednesday from 4 pm to 7 pm: order a beer tower and get a free portion of Garden Fries. No booking needed — walk-ins welcome.
Take the 138 bus from Fort, Slave Island, Town Hall, or Havelock Town — it stops directly in Kirulapone, Colombo 5. We're at 44 Kirulapone Avenue. Look for the green Vinya Garden sign.
